1. Wasteful spending
The Lagos State House of Assembly has charged the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency to address concerns regarding alleged wasteful spending by the Offices of the Governor and the Deputy Governor. Funso Doherty, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos had written to the governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, querying some of controversial projects identified on the state’s procurement portal.

2. Denials
The Premium Times reported that Fatai Onafowote, the Director-General of Lagos State Public Procurement Agency called the claims of Mr Doherty a “misunderstanding arising from a lack of clarity.” The agency said it is committed to ensuring transparency, accuracy, and accountability in all government transactions, as the Lagos State Public Procurement Law mandates.
In the same vein, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, denied that his office received more than N2 billion for the provision of supply items: rechargeable fans, rechargeable lights and fridge.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has also denied the accusations from Labour Party candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who claimed that the state financed his legal battle leading up to the March 18, 2023 election.
3. Powering Lagos
The Lagos State Government has called on cooperative societies in the state to take the lead role in the generation, transmission, distribution, and marketing of electricity to the populace given the opportunity provided by the new electricity law, The Punch reported.
4. Congestion losses
Lagos State is losing N4 trillion yearly to traffic congestion, a report by the Danne Institute for Research disclosed, the Daily Post reported.

5. Appointment scrutiny
The Lagos State House of Assembly has demanded for the identities of five out of the six Cabinet Nominees sent by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Record reported. At a sitting presided over by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko had read a letter before the lawmakers quoting the governor as seeking the confirmation of a commissioner-nominee and five nominees for the position of special advisers.
6. Indiscriminate parking
The Record reported that the Lagos State Government has impounded 15 tankers for indiscriminate parking along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. The tankers were seized during an enforcement operation carried out by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
7. Serene city
The Lagos State Government has reiterated its ban on establishment of event centers in Ikeja GRA, insisting that the area is zoned for residential purposes only, The Record reported.
8. Healthier children
The Record documented the demolition of unauthorised stalls near some schools in Lagos by personnel of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) officers, also known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI). The government said the exercise is part of an initiative designed to sanitize school environments.
Similarly, the Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and NGO Evidence Action, has launched a free school-based mass deworming program, The Record’s Omon Okhuevbie reported.
9. An unusual resurrection
Nigerian rapper, Oladipupo Oladimeji, widely known as Oladips, who was previously rumored to have passed away on November 15, has publicly confirmed that he is alive and well.
