The Ikeja Record is a community newspaper that covers the Ikeja area of Lagos State and its environs. We produce original, non-partisan reporting on the politics, business, and culture of our community. Our journalism is guided by the need to provide practical information that can deepen democracy, improve economic and social well being, and spark joy. The team


Solomon Elusoji (@solomonelusoji) is our co-editor and team lead. Solomon previously worked for almost a decade as reporter for ThisDay Newspaper and social media editor at Channels Television. In 2020, he was nominated for the Future Awards Prize for Journalism. He has written a travelogue about his time in China and has a deep interest in climate change. He was born and grew up in the Ikeja area of Lagos state.

Ikechukwu Onyewuchi (@IkOnyewuchi) is our co-founder and co-editor. Ikechukwu previously reported for the Guardian Newspapers. He is a communication expert with interests that cut across non-profit, public and private enterprises.

Abdullateef Abdul (@EmeritusAbdul) is our co-founder and legal adviser. Abdullateef has advised several Africa-focused startups and businesses on a wide array of simple and intricate commercial transactions. In 2020, he was inaugurated into the Future Awards Africa Class of 2020 (dubbed the Nobel Prize for Young Africans by the World Bank).

Omon Okhuevbie (@yourstrulyOmon) is one of our co-editors. Omon previously reported for Independent Newspapers and holds a diploma from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism.

Olalekan Adeyemi (@ladeyemi) is our technology lead. Olalekan has more than a decade of experience building scalable media products.
