In light of the recent development regarding potential price increases granted to Distribution Companies (DisCos), the Lagos State Government through the ministry of energy and mineral resources wishes to proactively communicate to all stakeholders in the state:
The government on Saturday, April 6, it understands that concerns may arise regarding the impact of such adjustments on consumers. However, the state government urged the public not to panic as several factors are considered in determining the extent of these changes.
Assessment of Impact
The state government noted that residents not currently receiving 20-24 hours of power supply, they may not be directly affected by the price adjustments.
Monitoring power supply
Consumers can assess their power supply duration to gauge potential impact. Utilising smart meters, estate logs or potential tracking methods can help in this regard.
Understanding tariff bands
For reference, the approved tariff bands for Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) range from N69 to N143, while Eko Electricity Distribution Company bands from N79 to N125.
Electricity management
To provide further assistance and address any concerns, the government has included the consumer care lines of the respective DisCos alongside the information shared. Additionally, the Consumer Protection Agency is readily available to offer support and guidance as needed.
The lines are as follows:
