Obasa storms Assembly amid leadership crisis

Speaking to reporters, Obasa said he has resumed his position as speaker, Punch Newspaper reported. “I’ve never been removed,” Obasa said. “Impeachment or removal is democratic and constitutional but in doing that, you must follow the due process. I am not against that. If I do that, then I am not democratic.” Meanwhile, some lawmakers led by Hon. FG facilitated Obasa’s return – Report

Atiku reacts to Assembly crisis
Reacting to the Assembly crisis, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said the situation was a betrayal of democracy and a step back to military dictatorship, The Whistler reported. He also expressed concern over the President’s silence, describing it as deafening and deeply concerning. “Lagos politics has become a battleground between the noble values of Omoluabi — rooted in integrity, fairness, and public service — and the crass, strong-arm tactics of Area Boy politics, where power is retained through coercion rather than consensus,” he said.

Hamzat calls for better data
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has stressed the importance of collecting, collating, and disseminating accurate data for the effective development of both the state and the nation, Tribune Newspaper reported. Speaking at the “Reconstitution of Human Capital Development 2.0 Lagos State Core Working Group” on Thursday, he said Nigeria was ranked by the World Bank as one of the lowest in human capital development globally due to a lack of reliable data. “In Nigeria, we don’t disseminate information correctly, and as a state, we are losing valuable resources by failing to maintain comprehensive data,” he said.
