Lagos-Badagry expressway inauguration slated for May
A section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway is expected to be completed by April, according to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, the News Agency of Nigeria reported. Speaking during an inspection of the highway on Thursday, Umahi said the contractor handling the project had been paid N50 billion out of the N71 billion contract sum.
FG denies approval of Lagos-Abuja bullet train project
The Federal Ministry of Transportation has denied approving a Lagos-Abuja high-speed bullet train that will reduce travel time between the two cities to about three hours. In a statement, the Ministry said the contractor pushing the story, Geofocus Consortium, “it is yet to fulfill the requirements needed.”
Reps rejects bill to return FIIRO to Lagos
The House of Representatives has rejected a bill seeking to return the Federal Institute of Industrial Research to Lagos. The agency, which had operated in the city for over 60 years, was relocated to Abuja through the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Act, 2023.

The state government has warned motorists against using fraudulent plate numbers or concealing their plate numbers, stating that such actions violate established traffic rules and aid in criminal activities like one-chance robberies, the News Agency of Nigeria reported. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr. Sola Giwa said failure to comply will result in swift arrest and prosecution.
LASAA seeks to regulate billboard around military, police formations
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has urged the Nigerian military and police to support it in its effort to regulate advertising structuring within their territories. The plea comes after a giant billboard collapsed twice in the Abati Barrack area in Surulere. “The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we take incidents like this very seriously,” the agency’s managing director, Prince Fatiu Akiolu said.
KAI clears Idumota bridge
The state environmental sanitation corps have commenced a clearance operation under Idumota bridge. The space is said to harbour criminal elements. “LAWMA staff are on ground, diligently carting away removed materials to restore and maintain this critical corridor,” commissioner for environment, Tokunbo Wahab, said.

RCCG to organise outreach on drug abuse awareness
The Redeemed Christian Church of God is set to host an outreach on Saturday to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, Daily Trust reported. The outreach will offer free medical care, digital skills training, and support to correctional centers, a senior pastor said.
