GRV offers solution to Lagos sanitation troubles

The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour has issued a statement outlining Lagos’ environmental challenges, including stricter waste management policies, improved drainage systems, and the adoption of alternative energy. He urged both the government authorities and residents to adopt sustainable methods such as tree planting, recycling, and better landfill strategies to safeguard public health and promote a cleaner Lagos.

Lagos records highest number of NIN enrollments

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said that Lagos state has secured the top spot by recording the highest number of enrolments  of National Identity Number NIN in the country with a total 12.6 million. Kano State follows closely behind, with both states maintaining their lead in NIN enrollment since the start of the exercise, Guardian Newspaper reported.

PWD rail crossing to close in May

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi has announced that the PWD rail crossing will be shut from Thursday, May 1 to ensure safety of commuters. He made this announcement in a post on his X page, where he added that it is due to the rampant accidents between trains and vehicles crossing the rail line into Ikeja and Maryland. Osiyemi added that motorists should take other routes via Ikeja or Airport roads to reach their destinations.

Dangote Refinery to halt fuel supply to Nigerian market

Dangote refinery will cease loading petroleum products for the Nigerian market as the renegotiation for naira for crude-oil deal did not yield any result. However, the refinery will continue to export crude-oil as it currently sources for crude-stock in dollars, The Cable Newspaper reported.

Lagos set to partner with France on e-sports market

The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has announced that the State Government is partnering with France to develop Nigeria’s $20 million e-sports market, Business Day Newspaper reported. Meanwhile, the State Government is set to hold discussions with Brazilian meat processor firm, JBS, next week to explore the potential for a multimillion-dollar investment in the state’s livestock sector, the Nation Newspaper reported..

Traders along POWA-Dolphin Gate face 72-hour eviction deadline

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab said the state government has issued a 72 hour eviction notice to illegal squatters and traders occupying the setbacks from POWA Gate to Dolphin Gate in Lagos Island.  Also, the deteriorating Jakande Estate in Lekki has raised concerns among residents about a covert land grab scheme allegedly involving government officials, developers, and influential elites, Sahara Reporters reported.. 

Three link roads commissioned in Kosofe LGA

The Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area, Barrister Moyo Ogunlewe, has commissioned three strategic link roads that will enhance mobility and socio-economic prospects across the council area. The roads include Lateef Dosumu Street in Ilawe, Ifako, and Musa Adewokun Street in Ojota. Meanwhile, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing the Lagos East Senatorial district has facilitated the construction and rehabilitation of roads in Ikorodu.

Illegal structures removed at Alaba

The Commissioner Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab has said that operations have begun to remove contravening structures that are encroaching setbacks and drainage alignment along Alaba drainage channel. Tokunbo said this in a post on his X page adding that the effort is to restore the free flow of stormwater in the area.

LAWMA targets defaulters 

The Lagos State Waste Management Authority has targeted market traders who have not paid for PSP services and improperly disposed of waste. This action is part of ​​ongoing effort to enforce compliance and create a cleaner environment for everyone.
