Road infrastructure: Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday commissioned the Babafemi Dada Bridge and the Yinka Folarin, Jamiu Lawal, and Shalom Academy networks of roads in Alimosho Local Government Area. “This project exemplifies our administration’s dedication to advancing sustainable development through the provision of modern infrastructure,” the Governor said.

Ikotun bridge: Meanwhile, the Governor on Monday announced the construction of Ikotun- Roundabout overhead bridge, which is aimed at eliminating the perennial traffic gridlock in the axis.

Food relief: The Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru, said he has distributed food packs to over 10,000 households in his constituency. “This initiative is not just about food,” Abiru said, “it is a reflection of our collective values and unwavering commitment to supporting one another, especially during these challenging times.”

House spending: Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 governorship election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, condemned the “unconscionable and morally reprehensible decision of the Lagos State House of Assembly to spend over N200 million on an end-of-year party during one of the most challenging economic periods in our nation’s recent history.”

Security funds: The UBA Group has donated N500 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. “This donation will strengthen our efforts to enhance security and protect our citizens,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.

Major bust: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it arrested 792 suspects at the seven-storey Big Leaf Building on No. 7 Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island. The commission said they were picked up for their alleged involvement in cryptocurrency investment fraud and romance scam.

Metro watch: Residents and business owners in the Offin, Ogunlewe and Bayeku areas of Ikorodu have raised the alarm over alleged repeated robbery incidents in the community, Punch Newspaper reported.

Pollution free: The University of Lagos has unveiled buses using solar energy and electricity as part of efforts to reduce its emissions. The buses were donated by Ogata Global Resources and Chart Eco Global Services, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, said.

Tragic end: At least one person died on Monday after a J5 Ford bus and a Mercedes truck collided on Third Mainland Bridge, according to the state traffic management authority, LASTMA.

Uniformed thieves: Police officers routinely arrest innocent people on CMD road and demand bribes up to N100,000, the Foundation for Investigative Journalism reported.
