Housing deficit: The state government has partnered with Access Bank to construct 704 units of two-bedroom apartments in Odo Nla, Ikorodu. The Odonla-Odogunyan Housing Estate Project is expected to be completed in the next two years with features such as a cinema house, gym center, playground, and security network. “We’re not just building homes,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said. “We are focused on enhancing the living experience for our residents.”

Local politics: The Lagos State United Opposition Political Parties has frowned at the state government’s delay in conducting elections into the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas, Vanguard Newspaper reported.

Engaging stakeholders: For at least the second time, a security town hall meeting with Governor Sanwo-Olu has been postponed. The meeting is now scheduled to be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Back on track: The state transport authority, LAMATA, appears to have resumed passenger operations on the Red Line rail after technical difficulties last week.

Canine show: Dogs of various shapes and sizes took to the catwalk to show off their fancy dress costumes at the sixth edition of the Lagos Dog Carnival, Africanews reported.

Cracking down: The state environmental task force said it has arrested 17 persons, including eight minors for street begging in Alfred Rewane, Osborne, Alexandra, Bourdillon in Ikoyi and Lekki-Ajah express corridor in Victoria Island, Punch Newspaper reported.

Seeking justice: Civil society groups have urged the state attorney-general and commissioner for justice to appeal the recent judgment that overturned the rape conviction of Dr. Femi Olaleye.

Same-day delivery: Ride-hailing app Uber has launched a new feature that will allow users to have their parcels or purchased items picked up or delivered conveniently, Technext reported. The feature is available only in Lagos.

Royal politics: The Alagbeji Royal Family of Isolo Kingdom said Alhaji Saheed Ishola Aregbeshola from the Alabe branch of the family remained the popular choice for the vacant stool, Tribune Newspaper reported.

Tragic end: An out-of-control tipper veered off the road and struck a pedestrian walking along the road at Iyana Ishasi u-turn in Mile 2, the state traffic management authority, LASTMA, said.
