Sanwo-Olu named Governor of the Year
Babajide Sanwo-Olu was named Governor of the Year and received the Game Changer Award during the joint anniversary event of ThisDay and Arise TV in recognition of his impact and achievements.
BECE e-registration system introduced for 2025 examination
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which facilitates the transition from JSS 3 in basic education to senior secondary school, now features an e-Registration and Payment system for the 2025 examination. This process, which began on January 27th and is set to close on April 27th, is designed to streamline registration and eliminate the need for school owners to visit the Examinations Board in person.
Ojo General Hospital set for completion in 12 months
The Ojo General Hospital, started in 2021 by the Sanwo-Olu administration, is set to be completed in 12 months. The hospital will feature 280 beds across four vertical structures, along with doctors’ residences for healthcare professionals. Once finished, it will be the largest healthcare facility in the district.
Residents of Alapere-Ketu raise alarm over rising robbery incidents
Residents of Alapere-Ketu have raised concerns over the rising wave of robbery incidents in the area. The increase in crime has been attributed to the lax enforcement of the motorcycle ban, with criminals freely using motorcycles, tricycles, and minibuses to target unsuspecting victims, particularly during early mornings and late nights, Punch Newspaper reported.
Governor commissions four newly completed roads in Amuwo Odofin
Governor Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday commissioned four newly completed roads in Amuwo Odofin: Mumuni Adio (formerly Buba Marwa) Road, Irede Road, Navy Town Road, and Old Ojo Road. Irede Road has been expanded and dualized, linking commuters to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway at Trade Fair Bus Stop and providing access to riverine communities like Ibasa, Ibeshe, Ilashe, and Imoore, as well as Irede Jetty.
Customs generate N180.75bn at airport
The Murtala Muhammed Airport command of the Nigeria Customs Service in Lagos generated N180.75 billion in revenue from cargo imports in 2024, nearly doubling the N90.43 billion recorded in 2023. Punch Newspaper reported that the command also intercepted contraband worth N10.51 billion, including drones, military hardware, and narcotics, through heightened surveillance and strategic operations
Two dead after building collapse in Ajah
A two-storey building under construction collapsed in Ajah, claiming the lives of an adult and a teenager. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, and the cause of the collapse is still unknown.
NAPPS Lagos launches digital platform to boost WAEC success
Students preparing for WAEC now have access to NAPPS Exam BOX, a digital platform launched by the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Lagos to enhance exam preparation. With a target of 85% pass rate by 2025, the platform offers a computer-based testing system featuring WAEC past questions, quizzes, and study materials for JAMB and BECE. Developed in partnership with Chronicles Software, NAPPS Exam BOX provides data-driven learning tools to track student progress and boost performance.
IKEDC delays power restoration in Ikorodu
Ori-Okuta, Shiriki, and other neighborhoods in Ikorodu have been facing power outages since January 18 due to a tripped circuit breaker. What seemed like a typical intermittent service from IKEDC has stretched for days, leaving residents uncertain. While the power supplier promised restoration by Thursday, an employee had earlier told community leaders there was no hope for a quick fix, FIJ reported.
The Headies 17th edition to hold in Victoria Island
The 17th edition of The Headies will be held on April 5 in Victoria Island, following two consecutive editions in the United States. Also, two separate editions of the award show will take place in 2025.
