In collaboration with Sony Music Nigeria, the nonprofit FoodClique Support Initiative is set to distribute approximately 25,000 meals to vulnerable households across Lagos during the festive season, targeting food insecurity and supporting communities in need.
At a press conference on Monday in Lagos, FoodClique CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Onilegbale confirmed the upcoming outreach.
“This food relief initiative will provide hope and tangible support to vulnerable families, ensuring they don’t have to worry about meals for at least a week,” Onilegbale stated.
He detailed that the distribution would involve 500 food boxes, each containing 10kg of essential items like rice, cassava flakes, wheat, spaghetti, noodles, Semovita, tomatoes, vegetable oil, and spices. “Each box, totaling up to 50 meals, is designed to sustain a family of five to ten people for seven days, amounting to 25,000 meals,” he said.
Onilegbale noted that FoodClique has distributed roughly 13 million meals in 2023 alone, covering multiple states across Nigeria, including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and others. The organisation’s mission goes beyond immediate aid, focusing on long-term hunger alleviation through meal distribution, food security initiatives, and education on sustainable practices.
“Our commitment since inception has been to lead the fight against hunger,” he added, highlighting various programs like community kitchens, free school meals, and initiatives like ‘Box of Hope’ for the elderly and the ‘Inmate Relief Program’ for prisoners.
“We believe that, together, we can build a zero-hunger nation,” Onilegbale concluded, expressing hope for a world where collective efforts can eradicate hunger.
