Omi Bus to begin operations today
Lagos’ eco-friendly ferry service, Omni Bus, designed to enhance water transportation, officially begins operations today. The service will cover key routes, including Ikorodu to Falomo, Falomo to Apapa, Badore to Falomo, and CMS. Residents can conveniently board the ferries using their Cowry cards, Peoples Gazette reported.
GRV reacts to Lagos 259 billion GDP
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has reacted to Lagos State’s recent GDP of $259 billion. He acknowledged the impressive figure but emphasized that it doesn’t reflect the reality of many Lagosians. In a post on his X account, GRV pointed out that despite the official economic growth data, working-class residents continue to face severe housing shortages, rising rents, inadequate public transportation, poor infrastructure, and unreliable waste management systems.
Oyedele calls for improved property taxation and income tax to close Lagos’ revenue gap
Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, has emphasized the need to close Lagos’ revenue gap by improving property taxation, expanding personal income tax, and streamlining the tax system. “Lagos is big, but its revenue is small, collecting less than 2 percent of GDP. While some progress has been made, we still have a big room for improvement, and the time to change this narrative is now,” Oyedele said. Thisdaylive reported.

Lagos to revitalize primary health care centers with infrastructural upgrades
The Lagos State Government is set to improve healthcare services by revitalizing Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) across the state. Professor Akin Abayomi, the Commissioner for Health, revealed that infrastructural upgrades at selected PHCs will be completed within four months. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery, ensuring more accessible and efficient services for Lagos residents.
LNSC arrest man for impersonation and assault in Magodo
Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) Ikosi-Isheri Command arrested 42-year-old Ademola Oyekan in Magodo Phase II for alleged impersonation and assault. Acting on a tip-off from the community, officers discovered Oyekan assaulting Deborah Nifemi Fafore, who accused him of defrauding women using fake identities. Oyekan was found with a suspicious ID card suggesting affiliation with the Oyekan Royal Family, a claim later disproven by investigations. He later confessed that his real name was Muri and was subsequently handed over to the Isheri Police Station.
Explosion on Otedola Bridge caused structural cracks, says Commissioner
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has confirmed that the gas tanker explosion at Otedola Bridge on Tuesday caused structural cracks on the bridge, raising concerns about its integrity. Osiyemi emphasized the importance of constant road safety awareness and noted that despite the “No Truck Allowed” road sign, the truck driver violated the rule, leading to the explosion. Lagos State launches MyLagosApp to support integrated multi-modal transportation
The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with MTN, has launched the MyLagosApp, designed to help users navigate various transportation options while providing real-time data on commuter activity and traffic conditions. The app will also offer predictive modeling for road infrastructure, helping Lagosians find the quickest routes to their destinations. Nurses attend training on safe blood transfusion practices in Alausa
Over 100 nurses from public and private hospitals across Lagos State recently participated in a one-day training on safe blood transfusion practices. The event, held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Centre in Alausa, was inaugurated by Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health.
