Corps member cries out after receiving threats

A corps member serving in Lagos said officials of the National Youth Service Corps are threatening her after she made TikTok videos criticizing the Nigerian government. Reacting to the incident, governorship aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, said “any attempt to oppress and silence her is a direct assault on citizens liberty.”

Expect above-normal rainfall, flooding in 2025 – Wahab

The state government has issued an early warning for above-normal rainfall in the first peak of the 2025 rainy season. Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab said the more-than-usual rain would lead to flash flooding events in some parts of the state.
LASAA arrests persons for defacing adverts in Lekki
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) said it has arrested some individuals who removed and destroyed “legally placed street lamp pole advertisements on a stretch of Admiralty Way in Lekki. The agency said members of the Lekki Peninsula Residents Association were involved in removals.
Independence bridge closed for repairs
The Ministry of Transportation has announced that there will be a diversion plan for emergency repairs on the Independence/Mekwen bridge (inbound Marina/CMS) from March 19 to May 25. Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi listed alternative routes for motorists.
Traders in Ebute-Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba served eviction notice
The Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has served a 48-hour eviction notice to traders occupying road medians from Ebute-Ero-Iga Idungaran to Oja Oba in Lagos Island. Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab said the move is in line with the government’s commitment to “ensuring cleanliness and sanity in our environments, and also security of life and properties of all Lagosians.”
WaterAid partners to build 350 public toilets
The state government said it is collaborating with UK charity WaterAid to build 350 public toilets across the state.
Lagos is not proud of borehole drilling – Sanwo-Olu’s aide
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu has said the state government is not proud of borehole drilling by residents. “It is something we are eager to run away from,” he said at a media roundtable over the weekend. “Adiyan Water works will soon start generating a combined capacity of not less than 100 million gallons of pipe borne water daily.”
Government officials set for X space on Tuesday
Ask Lagos, “a novel initiative aimed at bridging the engagement gap between the Lagos State Government and residents,” is hosting a Twitter X space on Tuesday. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho and the Executive Secretary of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Ayishat Agbaje-Okunade, are expected to feature on the space.
LASCODA director inspects coconut formations
As part of efforts to enhance the coconut value chain in the state, the acting coordinating director of the Lagos State Coconut Development Authority, LASCODA, Mrs. Olajumoke Ola, recently visited several coconut formations in the state. She assessed locations including Gberefu, Mowo, Coconut House, and Ilogbo in the Badagry axis to gain firsthand insight into necessary upgrades. She urged staff from LASCODA and the entire value chain to meet expectations, stating that failure is not an option.
Lagos seafood festival to launch in April
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is set to launch a three-day Lagos Seafood Festival from April 24 to 26. The festival, themed: “Buy, Eat, Party”, is set to hold across three locations, including Lagoon Restaurant, Victoria Island; Anuoluwapo Fish Market, Law School, Victoria Island; and Oluwo Fish Market in Epe, The Guardian Newspaper reported. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, said the initiative is designed to celebrate Lagos’ indigenous lifestyle, empower the seafood ecosystem and boost the state’s economy.
