First bank unveils new headquarters

First bank has unveiled a 40 storey building at Eko Atlantic, which is said to be the tallest building in Nigeria. Vice President, Kashim Shettima, and other billionaire businessmen including Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola graced the event. 

After Ikeja Record’s report, LAMATA addresses BRT shortage

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has addressed concerns about Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) availability following a report by The Record highlighting complaints from its commuters. Public Complaints Commission (PCC), led by Commissioner Hafeez Odunewu and LAMATA Managing Director Abimbola Akinajo acknowledged the challenges and outlined plans to expand the BRT fleet. According to Akinajo, the agency has planned to introduce 500 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and 50 electric vehicles by the last quarter of the year.

Two die, 14 others rescued in Lekki building collapse

Two people have died while 14 others have been rescued from an uncompleted building collapse that happened at Oriwu Street in the Lekki Phase one. Benjamin Hundeyin of the police command confirmed this incident and said operatives were mobilized to the scene. “Operatives of the Command remain on ground to provide security for the ongoing rescue operation,” he said.

Acting House Clerk hospitalised after DSS invite

Acting HOA clerk, Mr. Ottun Babatunde was hospitalized after a DSS invitation over alleged incitement claims by the suspended clerk, Olalekan Onafeko. Onafeko, who was removed alongside the now reinstated speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, attempted to reclaim his office but was denied. The Assembly management has condemned Onafeko’s actions, urging adherence to legal processes to restore order, The Vanguard Newspaper reported.

Task Force denies extortion on Oshodi pedestrian bridge 

The Lagos Task force has responded to an ongoing rumour denying that its officials have not been collecting tolls from pedestrians using the Oshodi pedestrian bridge. The Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Task Force, Mr Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, said the taskforce does not charge or authorise the collection of tolls on pedestrian bridges, This Day Newspaper reported. “We urge the public to disregard the misinformation and report any such illegal activities through the appropriate government channels,” he said.

LGA chairman shares over 2,000 Ramadan food packages

The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, has distributed over 2,000 Ramadan food packages to Muslim residents on Wednesday, offering support for the holy month of fasting. During his speech, Mayor Okeowo highlighted that the distribution was done in the spirit of Ramadan, a time of reflection, generosity, and community support.

ECOWAS parliament hails Sanwo-Olu 

Head of the Liberian delegation at the ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, Jr., has commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for developing the blue rail project. During a train ride as part of the ECOWAS Parliament’s 2025 First Parliamentary Seminar and First Extraordinary Session in Lagos, Senator Snowe commended the quality and efficiency of the Blue Line, stating that it “matches the standards of rail systems in Europe and other parts of the world.”

Sanwo-Olu to commission Demurin road

Governor Sanwo-Olu is set to commission a new set of projects, including Demurin Road in Kosofe Local Government Area, Agidi Road and Church Street in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area. Sanwo-Olu highlighted the significance of the projects, stating that it will help boost road connection and make life more comfortable for Lagosians. 

LSWMO tests Oke-Afa treatment plant

Lagos State Wastewater Management Office LSWMO carried out an on site assessment on the Oke-Afa wastewater treatment plant to address sewage management challenges in the Oke-Afa low-cost housing estate. Led by the agency’s General Manager Engineer Adefemi Afolabi, the visit aimed to evaluate the facility’s condition and discuss solutions with the estate executives.

Ojodu LCDA Chairman inspects rehabilitated Ogunnusi-Ogba road

The Ojodu Local Council Development Area Chairman, Segun Odunmbaku, recently inspected the newly rehabilitated Ogunnusi, Ogba road. He thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for his support and commended the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Environment, and LSPWC for their teamwork in making the rehabilitation possible.
