Goethe Institut, Lagos govt to promote German language in school curriculum

A cultural organisation of the German Government, Goethe institut, has expressed intent to partner with the Lagos State Government to explore ways in which German language can be taught in schools in the State.

The Country Director, Goethe Institut, Dr. Nadine Siegert, who led the visiting delegation, said they are ready to offer classes to Public Affairs Officers who are interested in learning the German Language.

Siegert added that by the end of the year, the Institute will take a new shape, with a new library and space which will be equipped for coding, podcasting and digital innovations such as AI technology among others.

“In doing this, we wish our space would be well-known to many Nigerians and hope the Ministries of Information and Strategy and Education can help us project this to the outer world through a strategic collaboration”, Siegert added.

Among the delegation is the Head of Language and Exams, Goethe Institut, Ms. Anuoluwapo Oloke who noted that the Institute hopes to work with the Ministries of Information and Strategy, and Education as they intend to have partnerships with schools in the State.
