Robbers in Lagos machete female DPO at Otedola Bridge, steal her phone

The Divisional Police Officer of Alausa, CSP Abaniwonda Tokunbo has been attacked by some suspected armed robbers at the Otedola Bridge in the state metropolis.

It was gathered that the DPO was on special duty to the bridge when the armed robbers ambushed and attacked her.

The spokesman of the command in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement, on Tuesday, April 30, said on April 9, while on a sting operation to the Otedola Bridge, Alausa in Ikeja, a gang of armed robbers surfaced and suddenly attacked her with cutlass and other dangerous weapons. Hundeyin said after the dastardly act, the hoodlums ran away to an unknown destination.

Hundeyin noted: “On April 13, they were tracked to their hiding at a Hotel, Akute, Ajuwon area of Ogun State upon receipt of the information the anti-crime team of the division then moved swiftly to the hotel where the ring leader one Tochuckwu Nonso 29, alias ‘Thug life’ in company of one Chidera Christopher 25 were arrested and immediately brought down to the station for further investigation with the exhibits found on them.”

Investigations revealed that the suspects forcefully snatched the Samsung S22 phone from the DPO and then macheted her on the back again before escaping.

Meanwhile, further efforts led to the arrest of one Richard Etim, 25, in a different part of the state.

However, Hundeyin said the ring leader of the gang had been robbing on the Otedola Bridge for over five years, but changing his gangs every now and then to avoid arrest.
