Lagos Lawyer achieves record-breaking walk across Third Mainland Bridge

Victoria Akingbemila, a Nigerian lawyer and Product Manager, embarked on a remarkable journey on Wednesday, attempting to traverse the entire 11.8km length of the Third Mainland Bridge by foot.

Revealing her endeavour through her official X account, Akingbemila shared that she accomplished the feat in approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes, navigating the longest of three road bridges spanning the Lagos Lagoon.

In an exclusive conversation with The Record, Akingbemila disclosed that her curiosity about the possibility of walking the distance and the duration it would take motivated her to undertake the challenge.

“This is legit the scariest thing I’ve done yet. I convinced my cousin to come with me. The only difficult part of this was the obvious water under the bridge and the cars. My hands were shaking when we started,” Akingbemila shared in a tweet on X.

This courageous feat follows closely after Nigerian swim coach, Akinrodoye Dare, also known as Coach Dreh, made headlines earlier this month by swimming the entire 11.8km stretch of the Third Mainland Bridge in an impressive time of two hours and 33 minutes.

Coach Dreh’s swim aimed to raise awareness about mental health issues, with a specific focus on addressing suicide and depression.
