Lagos-Ibadan Rail: Passengers allege double booking of seat

Some passengers using the Nigerian Railway Corporation’s (NRC) Lagos-Ibadan rail service have expressed frustration over recent encounters with double booking of seats on their e-tickets.

“People who booked online still get allocated same seat numbers with those who booked manually at the counter.”, a  X user, @lexyy4real, posted on Monday.

Another passenger wrote: ”When will @info_NRC ever get it right, even with e- ticketing my seat number  Lagos>>>Ibadan was booked  for two passengers. We don dey fight on top seat number now.”

Similar accounts from other passengers highlight the prevalence of this issue.

Double booking of seats can disrupt travel plans, delay journeys, and create unnecessary tension among passengers.

The NRC’s e-ticketing system was launched on November 1 to  simplify the booking process and allow passengers to “procure train tickets at least 48 hours before their planned departure”.

As of the time of filing this report, the NRC has yet to publicly give concrete responses to the issue of double booking of seats.
