The Best Graduating Student at the 54th convocation ceremony of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), David Akanmu, has been chosen as a 2024 Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University in the United States.
Akanmu disclosed this on Wednesday via his official X account, adding that he would begin his program in Fall.

He is one of five Africans, and the only one from an African-based tertiary institution, to join the 2024 cohort. This also marks the third time a UNILAG graduate has received this award.
According to the announcement by Stanford University, Akanmu will be pursuing a Ph.D. in Energy Science and Engineering.
The Knight-Hennessy Scholars program is a multidisciplinary, multicultural graduate fellowship spanning all seven schools at Stanford University.
Recipients receive up to three years of financial support to pursue graduate studies at Stanford, engaging in experiences that prepare them to be visionary, courageous, and collaborative leaders addressing complex global challenges.
