A woman identified as Folashade Nimotalahi has jumped into the river from a boat travelling from Igando in Lagos to Totowu in Ogun.
In a report by the Daily Trust, the tragic incident, reported by one Rasaq to the Igando Police Division, occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday evening disclosed that the woman removed her life jacket before leaping into the river.
“She left behind one nylon bag containing a bottle of sniper, Alimosho General Hospital cards and some drugs,” the Hundeyin quoted Rasaq as saying in his report.
The police have initiated a search operation to recover the woman’s body, and investigations are underway while efforts are made to contact her family.
