Angry Lagosians on Wednesday gathered at Ikeja Underbridge in protest, brandishing placards and banners engraved dwith messages such as “Join the moment to fight for Nigeria”, “This Hunger is too much”, and “President Tinubu let the poor breathe”.
The demonstration, coinciding with the country’s Democracy Day, stands as a poignant plea to the government.
Amid recent sharp increases in fuel and food prices, Lagosians chose June 12 to voice their discontent and frustration.
Police officers and officials from the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps were present, working to ease tensions and pacify the protesters.
