The state’s traffic management agency, LASTMA, said it is taking action to enforce zebra crossings across the state. A report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) highlighted how Lagos drivers render Zebra crossings unsafe for school children.
“LASTMA regularly conducts awareness programmes to educate motorists and pedestrians about the importance of zebra crossings,” an agency spokesperson told FIJ. “These campaigns, which include media advertisements, social media engagement, and community outreach, emphasise the need for drivers to stop and give right of way to pedestrians at designated zebra crossings.”
