The Lagos State Government plans to convene a meeting with developers and owners of distressed buildings in November to discuss redesign and remodelling strategies.
This announcement was made by Oluyinka Olumide, Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, who expressed concern over the increasing number of distressed structures in the state. “The prevalence of distressed buildings is worrisome and requires urgent attention from all stakeholders,” Olumide said.
“Buildings have their lifespan and should be continuously maintained as the lifespan approaches rather than being left to degenerate to the level of distress and eventual collapse, which are inimical to a safe and sustainable environment.” He added
