The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Wednesday released a report of areas in Lagos with unhealthy air quality.
The daily microgram per cubic meter data was shared by the agency via its official Twitter account, citing places like Ojo, Ikorodu, Akoka, Oshodi, Lagos Island Health Center, Mushin, Mende, Ebute Meta, Ketu, NIMR Yaba, Surulere, Ikotun and Unilag Research Lab as unhealthy for residents.
While the air quality in areas like Egbeda, Ikeja General Hospital, Unilag Main Gate, Agege, Lasepa, Ikeja, Shobayo Close Araromi, Nimet Oshodi, Lagos Port Apapa and Banana Island were marked as unhealthy for sensitive groups.
LASEPA further urged residents to take certain actions like opting for public transport to cut down emissions, supporting renewable energies, or tree planting to contribute to a cleaner and fresher air in the state.
“Dispose of your waste responsibly (say no to burning), prioritize regular vehicle maintenance, implement effective emission controls in your industries, educate others on the impact of pollution and encourage the adoption of sustainable habits.
“Together our actions can pave the way for EkoCleanAir,” the statement partly read.
