Singing songs: Governor Sanwo-Olu on Thursday attended the state’s Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons Service. “This season reminds me of the power of unity, love, and the light we can bring to our communities,” the Governor said. “Let us embrace the spirit of Christmas and reflect on the true meaning of the season together.”
Home for cops: Meanwhile, before attending the carol service, the Governor had performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the 2,200 police housing units at the Ijeh Police Barracks in Ikoyi. The project is a collaboration between the state government and the Nigeria Police Force, the Governor said. He also handed over 250 patrol vehicles and other security kits to the police.
Crime watch: The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said the days of bank robbery in Lagos are gone. He noted that only one successful bank robbery – in 2014 – has been recorded in the state since 2007, Punch Newspaper reported.
State agency: The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) said it has issued an order transferring regulatory oversight of the electricity market in Lagos from the commission to the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), The Cable Newspaper reported.
Mudashiru Obasa: The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly said the House did not spend N17 billion on fixing the assembly gate, Tribune Newspaper reported. “It is so funny,” Obasa said. “How much is the allocation of the Assembly in the whole year that we will decide to spend N17 billion on a gate? They even claimed that we expended 200 million on Thanksgiving, which did not hold.”
Seeking Home: A yet-to-be-unidentified lady walked into Ojodu police station on Thursday disoriented, police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin said in a post containing her photograph. “She collapsed minutes after and is currently getting medical attention at a medical facility,” he added. “Kindly share to enable her reunite with her family.”
Feeding the state: The Mushin Fresh Food Agro-Hub generated N2.495 billion in transactions in 2024, the state government said. Nairametrics reported that the food hub attracted 75,000 visitors who participated in trading activities during 81 market days.
Giving account: Kosofe local government chairman, Moyo Ogunlewe, said annual government revenues have tripled from N100 million to up to N300 million “without inconveniencing taxpayers.”
State power: At least 75 persons suspected to be “miscreants and street traders” have been arrested in the Ikoyi and Lekki axis, the state commissioner for environment and water sanitation, Tokunbo Wahab, said.
Celebrating in style: Fuji legend Pasuma brought his 40th-anniversary world tour to a peak with a sold-out concert at the Sheraton Bamoral Hall, Ikeja, P.M News reported.
