Over two million names captured in social register – Lagos Govt

The Lagos state government has revealed that the its Single Social Register currently has 2.6 million names in its database.

According to Director of Social Protection Coordinating Department (SPCD) in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Oluwakemi Gabadeen-Adedeji, the register allows the government to know who they are “dealing with in terms of uplifting households.”

Gabadeen-Adedeji shared this information on Wednesday during interviews on Your Side Mirror on Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1 FM and The Conversation on Lagos Television. She added that the Social Protection Implementation Working Group, which includes various strategic ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), has been established to develop and deliver targeted interventions for vulnerable households.

Adedeji further stated there are over 90 social interventions in Lagos State. “Our goal is to boost human capital development so we can develop these households to enable them to cater for themselves”, she said.

Additionally, the Lagos State government is preparing to launch a public awareness campaign on its social protection programs through the IBILE Youth Academy next Tuesday.
