EFCC says no intention to arrest Sanwo-Olu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said it has no plans to arrest Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. A suit had been filed on behalf of the Governor in Abuja although Mr. Sanwo-Olu’s aides have denied the Governor had anything to do with the case.

In a counter-affidavit filed by the EFCC, the agency said it was not investigating the governor and had never invited him or threatened to arrest any member of his staff, domestic or otherwise, Tribune newspaper reported.

“The plaintiff’s action in this case is based on mere conjecture and speculation, as there is no petition or intelligence before the defendant that would justify its officers inviting or threatening to arrest the plaintiff at this time,” stated Ufuoma Ezire, a Superintendent and Litigation Secretary in the Legal and Prosecution Department of the EFCC, in the counter affidavit.
