I will like to be Lagos state governor, says Obasa

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed a personal interest in becoming governor of Lagos State.

However, he emphasised that his focus remains on strengthening the party and its reach across the state rather than pursuing personal political ambitions.

The Speaker disclosed this on Sunday at the annual Obasa Youth Crusade in Agege.

“Yes, I will like to become governor, and I will also like the experience, because in Lagos today, we know how it works,” he said.

He clarified that his efforts are not driven by a desire for higher office but by a commitment to building and unifying the party.

“Though I am not too young to become Lagos State governor, I want to let you know that we will continue to work toward the progress of the party, rather than focusing on personal ambitions,” Obasa told the gathering.

He further encouraged party members to prioritise party success in upcoming elections and to resist distractions based on individual aspirations.

Reflecting on the last election, he warned against divisions driven by tribal, ethnic, and religious sentiments, which he said had influenced voting patterns. He urged attendees to avoid similar divides in future elections.
