The parents of students in Model colleges have announced their intent to resume protests at the governor’s office in Alausa today.
The parents are protesting the increase of boarding fees from N35,000 to N100,000. “The essence of this protest is to peacefully register our dismay and grievances over the unjust, criminal and satanic increment of hostel boarding fee from N35,000 to N100,000, which we find to be outrageous being well over 200 per cent,” the parents said in a statement.
The government has said it is unable to keep the colleges operating under the previous fees and has advised parents who are unable to afford the new fees to explore other public schools without boarding facilities.
The parents continue to appeal to the government for understanding and support on the matter, emphasizing that the government has shown little empathy toward them, particularly during these challenging economic times.
