Meanwhile, the state government may be liable for up to N114.5 billion in payments from lawsuits brought against it, according to the attorney-general.
These court cases include land disputes (over 2,500) and chieftancy disputes (250). Attorney-general Lawal Pedro said the state’s ministries department and agencies (MDAs) must devise strategies to reduce such litigations, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.
