Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale: Sanwo-Olu gifts LASU’s best-graduating student N10m

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a token of N10 million for the overall best-graduating student of Lagos State University (LASU), Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale.

Olawale, who graduated from the Accounting Education department, ended his academic programme with an applaudable CGPA of 4.98.

In a tweet shared on Thursday by Jubril A. Gawat, a senior special assistant to Sanwo-Olu, the governor made this announcement at LASU’s 27th convocation ceremony.

During the ceremony, the governor noted that this outstanding accomplishment is for both the first-class graduate, the institution, and the state in general.

The governor noted that LASU has been unwavering in its commitment to academic excellence and ethical standards and added that it stands as a symbol of exceptional education and groundbreaking ideas.
He urged the graduating class to remember that their academic journey is merely the starting point and that the knowledge and abilities they have gained are instruments to drive positive change in their communities.
Sanwo-Olu said: “Pursue excellence in all your pursuits and make a lasting impact wherever you go. We are devoted to backing educational institutions like LASU, ensuring they possess the means to cultivate the next wave of leaders, visionaries, and issue solvers.
“Together, we will construct a more prosperous Lagos where academic brilliance flourishes.”

Recall that LASU was recently named the fifth best university with the most employable graduates in Nigeria.

The ranking was released by Stutern, a reputable skills development and job marketplace for graduates in Nigeria.

Stutern, ranking higher institutions on the employability of their graduates, said 62.50% of graduates from LASU are employable, which ranks the institution as the 5th best in the country and the best among State universities.

The university was also ranked the best State University and the 9th best overall in Nigeria by the reputable AD Scientific Index ranking in 2023.
