Aggrieved residents of Jakande Estate in Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, have decried epileptic power supply by Ikeja Electric to their neighbourhood.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Chairman of the Estate Youths Parliament, Yusuf Adeyemi, said this in a meeting with residents, noting that the situation has lingered for the past one year.
The EYP, he said, had engaged with the management of Ikeja Electric on the state of its power supply to the estate, noting, “Everybody in the estate is not happy with the erratic power supply. Considering the heat in the estate at this point, the night is usually not cozy.”
He pleaded with Ikeja Electric to increase the number of hours that power is supplied the estate, preferring the Band A category for the estate.
Gbajumo Ibrahim, another estate resident, descride the poor power supply, urging the power company to do better.
Another resident, Funmilayo Olatona, said the situation has made life unbearable for them.
Ikeja Electric had on X (formerly Twitter), apologised to consumers on Band A feeders for “falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours” for April 17 and 18.
