  1. Explosion in Ikeja Army barracks

The Nigerian Army has described as minor the explosion that occurred at the Ikeja Cantonment on Monday 1 April 2024, according to the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu. The explosion was said to have occurred on a farmland near the Mammy Market, and is suspected to have been triggered by the burning of refuse and other inflammable debris by a farmer who cultivated the farmland.

  1. Ikeja hotel profit soars

Ikeja Hotels Plc has reported a profit before tax of N3.79 billion for the year ended 31 December 2023. According to the financial statements reviewed by Nairametrics, Ikeja Hotels reported revenue of N11.113 billion, a 13.83% decline from the N12.9 billion reported the year prior.

  1. Daring youth vs Police

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos have arrested one Akinjobi Wahab for attempting to snatch their patrol motorcycle. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), on Sunday, Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the state police command, said the 19-year-old suspect was arrested at about 4 am on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

  1. Man sent to prison for abducting teenager in Ikeja

The Chief Magistrate of Ikeja Magistrates Court, E.Kubeinje, has remanded a 35-year-old man, Joshua Ogabi, for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old girl. Ogabi is remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre pending his trial.

  1. Dangote donates food to Lagosians

The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has commenced distribution of 80,000 10kg bags of rice to support vulnerable individuals in Lagos State, as part of a larger effort to provide one million bags of rice nationwide. The exercise is part of the broader initiative aimed at reaching one million vulnerable people across the 774 local government areas in Nigeria.

  1. FAAN shuts KFC for discrimination against person with disability

In compliance with Lagos State law protecting the rights of people with special needs, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has closed the KFC facility at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, following reports of discriminatory treatment towards a Passenger with Reduced Mobility (PRM).

The decision came swiftly after a physically challenged person, Mr Adebola Daniel raised concerns on social media about discriminatory treatment experienced at the KFC branch.

In a bid to celebrate Easter and alleviate economic strains on residents, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the early opening of the ‘Ounje Eko’ Sunday Market. This directive was announced in a statement on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, mandating the market to commence operations on Friday, March 29th, 2024.
