The Lagos State Government (LASG) on Thursday commenced the demolition of illegal structures around Afolabi Nursery and Primary School, and Methodist Primary School in Oshodi.
According to the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the owners of the structures had been notified more than once to vacate the premises.
“After the expiration of several contravention notices served, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps commenced the removal of infractions by the perimeter fence of Afolabi Nursery and Primary School, Oshodi and Methodist Primary School, Oshodi,” Mr Wahab said in a tweet.

Reacting to the commissioner’s tweet, some X users commended the state government for the action.
“I love this, this is my area,” one X user said. “That place needs cleansing.”

We're adamant in the part of the world, we dear the government too much. When action is then taken we will be crying foul

HCE, well done sir. Kudos to you. Very proud of what you are doing to transform Lagos. It might be painful to those who are affected but the law must stand. Someone must be bold to bell the cat! Stay blessed.

However, one X user pointed out that the government should also swing into action when road contractors default on deadlines.
Just imagining we can also have deadlines for contractors or road maintenance people to get roads or streets fixed. If not, we should be able to report them to commissioner’s office. pic.twitter.com/QTIOtCLNzm

Others asked the commissioner to look into other parts of the state where illegal structures have sprung up.
Please look into the current state of the Oshodi BRT terminal. We used to love that place, but it’s become an eyesore. Kudos, blessings and Godspeed @tokunbo_wahab.
