A nonprofit, the TRACKFIT community has organised a breast cancer awareness campaign in Akoka, offering free screenings and sensitisation sessions to promote early detection and education on regular checkups.
Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women globally. It is also the most common form of cancer observed in women at the Lagos state university teaching hospital (LASUTH). However, early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes. TRACKFIT’s initiative aims to bridge gaps in awareness and access to essential healthcare services.
The event, held at the University of Lagos, featured an awareness walk which brought together 156 participants and also a 500m x 4 relay race.
“Our partnership with Pink Clinic enables us to offer critical health services to the community while spreading awareness about breast cancer,” TRACKFIT coordinator, Ademola Alugo said.
