The Lagos state taskforce on Wednesday arrested some 94 persons squatting along the Pen-Cinema to Fagba railway corridor.
This operation was part of ongoing efforts to enhance security in the area following repeated complaints about criminal activities affecting Fagba, Agege, Pen Cinema, and surrounding neighborhoods, Punch reported.
“The sting operation, which commenced in the early hours of the day, was supervised by the chairman of the agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, who took illegal occupants and squatters in the corridor by surprise,” a statement from the taskforce said.
In a tweet from his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared that authorities recovered a locally fabricated shotgun, several wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, charms, and a jackknife during the operation.
“The suspects will be charged to court accordingly,” Wahab wrote.
