Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that additional trains rolling stocks have been secured for the Blue Line and Red Line rail operations.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this in a statement via his official X account on Thursday, noting that the decision came after a research by the team into the requirements for a mega city like Lagos.
The governor further reiterated his commitment to completing the second phase of the Blue Line rail project and also initiating the commercial operations of the Red Line rail project following a recent meeting with the President and management of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Beijing, China.
The tweet partly read, “The Red Line, being longer with more infrastructure, is expected to accommodate a larger number of passengers than the Blue Line. We are also focusing on ensuring the safety and efficiency of the rail corridor, including discussions about the right of way and connections between the Red Line and Blue Line for seamless passenger transit.
“Overall, the aim is to provide a safe, efficient, and interconnected rail system that enhances the lives of our citizens and contributes to the city’s development.”
