Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has vowed to perform at the Celestial Church of God, Goshen Land Cathedral, in Lagos State, despite public opposition and outcries.
The Celestial Church faced criticisms on social media for inviting secular musicians, Portable and Fuji singer Pasuma, to its praise night on December 15, 2023.
In response to the backlash, Celestial Church leader Olatosho Oshoffa in a Facebook post assured that the Shepherd in charge of the Parish had promised to withdraw the invitation to Portable and Pasuma, stating that they won’t be part of the event anymore.
However, Portable, in a viral video, determined to still perform disclosed that that he was paid N5 million by the church.
“Celestial church we must do the show o, you have already paid me N5 million. Pasuma will perform, I will also perform and we must do it.
“The children of God are coming. Land of Goshen Cathedral please in God’s name, consider us as children of God. Don’t judge me by my appearance,” the singer said in the video.
