In a significant boost to the state’s water transportation infrastructure, Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu today commissioned a fleet of high-capacity commercial ferries called OMI-BUS at the Badore Jetty in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
OMI-BUS is a collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the private sector, spearheaded by Caverton Marine and designed to provide a safe, reliable, and comfortable transport option for Lagosians.
According to a post on X by Jubril Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Sanwo-Olu, the OMI-BUS ferries are constructed to meet international standards set by Bureau Veritas.
Gawat shared that the ferries have a passenger capacity of 40, and are equipped with essential safety features including life buoys, lifejackets, fire extinguishers, and pyrotechnics, ensuring a reduced risk of casualties in case of emergencies.
“The OMI-BUS is equipped with more efficient Yamaha outboard engines that produce significantly fewer CO2 emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a reduced environmental footprint.
“The OMI-BUS ferries have extra features such as USB charging points, a stereo system for your entertainment, LED lighting for a pleasant ambiance, a non-slip deck mat for your safety, and a public address system for continuous updates,” Gawat shared via his official X account.
