The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress on Tuesday called off its nationwide strike action which commenced on Monday.
“A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect,” TUC president Festus Osifo told Channels Television.
The labour chief said a communique will be issued shortly.
The strike action had affected economic activities across Lagos on Monday.
The Record had reported that Lagos residents were stranded at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Ikeja on Monday due to the strike.
Several public schools were also closed and electricity supply was cut off in many communities.
The unions initiated the industrial action over a new minimum wage and hike in electricity tariff.
