In a significant boost for healthcare in Mushin, the Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, commissioned the newly rehabilitated Block “D” building at Mushin General Hospital.
The renovated facility, aimed at expanding critical healthcare services for residents, marks a milestone in the hospital’s development and offers a renewed, welcoming environment for both patients and medical staff.
The rehabilitation project, initiated by Mushin General Hospital’s Medical Director and CEO, Dr. Oluyemi Taiwo, sought the council’s support shortly after her appointment in July 2024. Following an on-site assessment by Chairman Ajala and his team, the decision was made to undertake a complete overhaul of the deteriorated Block “D.”
The renovated space will now house an eye clinic, physiotherapy unit, X-ray and scan facilities, and surgery suites, enhancing the hospital’s service range.
“We took on the rehabilitation of this entire building, which we’re commissioning today, to support our community’s well-being,” Ajala stated.
“Within the next three months, we will also be announcing additional projects at the hospital.” Ajala emphasised the council’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for healthcare, reinforcing that Mushin General Hospital remains the primary facility serving Mushin Local Government and Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA.
Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, represented by Dr. Olawale Adegbite, expressed gratitude to Chairman Ajala and his council for their substantial support, recognizing the impact this facility would have on patient care in Mushin.
The event also drew support from community leaders, including the MD/CEO of Isolo General Hospital, Dr. Saliu Oseni, Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye’s Community Development Committee chairman, and the Iyaloja General of Mushin Local Government, who all expressed optimism for the future of healthcare in Mushin.
