Legislative profile: Saad Lukman Olumoh

 

Saad Lukman Olumoh, a member of the All Progressive Congress, is the lawmaker representing Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly. 

He was first elected as a member of the House in 2019.

Before becoming a lawmaker, Mr. Olumoh was a financial analyst and consultant.

Early life and education

Mr. Olumoh was born in October 1966. He completed his primary education at Army Children School, Apapa, Lagos and his secondary school education at Government Secondary School, Ballah, Ilorin. 

In 1990, he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and banking from the University of Lagos. 

In 2010, Mr. Olumoh became a member of the Institute of Credit Administration and a fellow of the Institute of Credit and Collection Management in 2013.

In 2015, he obtained a masters degree in banking and finance from the University of Lagos and a second masters degree in finance from the same university. 

He is studying towards a PhD in finance from the University of Lagos. Mr. Olumoh has worked as a principal partner at Willbond Consulting Limited, a tax audit services and consulting firm. He was a managing director at Manol Allied and Industries Ltd, an agro import and export company from 1998 to 2010. 

In 1995, he joined Golden Harvest Nigeria Limited, an investment firm as an executive director.  

Political career

Mr. Olumoh’s drive to give back to his community apparently inspired him to get into politics. He joined partisan politics in 2019 when he was elected to represent Ajeromi Ifelodun Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly. 

Meanwhile, he had assisted in helping people get elected into different posts before being elected in 2019. He was a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly Aspirants (LAHA 2015). This body was approved by the APC national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to mobilise support for all party candidates during the 2015 general elections.

During his first term, he was the chairman of the House committee on public private partnerships. 

He has also served as the chairman of the House committee on economic planning and budget, and chairman of the ad hoc committee.

In February 2024, he was sworn in as the leader of the Mandate Movement in Ifelodun LCDA. The Mandate Movement is a political caucus of the national leader of the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Legislative work

During his first term, Mr. Olumoh created KOKO Traders, a no-interest money lending scheme. He also gave KOKO scholarships to students and helped them with bursary allowances. He facilitated the establishment of a fire station in his constituency.

In October 2023, during the domestic and sexual violence awareness month, Mr. Olumoh, as chairman of the ad hoc committee assured members of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) of the House’s continued support in fighting domestic and sexual violence by enacting laws targeted at mitigating it.

In January 2024, he provided free JAMB forms for over 1,000 indigent students within Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency 1.

In May 2024, as a result of a flooding crisis, the lawmaker flagged off the construction of a drainage system alongside the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources (Office of Drainage Service) to channel all the water to the canal. 

In August 2024, He claimed to have facilitated the construction of the Okoya bridge for his constituents in the Okoya, Ezeagu, Olodo, Zumura and Idi-Ori communities. The bridge will help solve the flood challenges facing the area.

There has been ongoing rehabilitation of different roads earlier this year across different parts of his constituency which include the Okoya-Ayetoro-Boundary road, Giwa street, Turner-Eradiri street, Adeleye and Jinadu street.
