Legislative profile: Oladipo Ajomale

Oladipo Olayinka Ajomale, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is the member representing Oshodi Isolo 2 Constituency in the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly.

Although he declared his intention to run for a House seat in 2014, he was first elected in 2023.

Mr. Ajomale has a degree in law.

Early life and education

Mr. Ajomale is the son of Barrister Henry Oladele Ajomale, a former state chairman of the APC in Lagos.

Born on July 3 in Tokyo, Japan, Mr Oladipo started his education at Command Children School, Bonny Camp, Lagos.

In 1987, he attended St. Gregory’s College in Ikoyi for his junior secondary education and later completed his secondary schooling at Lagos State Model College, Kankon, Badagry, from 1999 to 2001.

In 2003, he enrolled at Lagos State University, Ojo, where he studied Law and graduated with an LLB degree in 2009.

In 2010, Oladipo completed his National Youth Service (NYSC) with Compass Newspaper in Lagos.

In August 2012, he briefly worked with Proteus Law Firm.

He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

In 2011, Mr. Ajomale joined the Lagos State Government as a contract staff and was assigned to the Ministry of Justice’s Legal Practice and Criminal Litigation Department. By March 2012, he was transferred to the Civil Litigation Department, where he continued until the end of his contract.

Political career

Mr. Ajomale’s political career can be traced to October 2012 when he became a special assistant to the former deputy governor of Lagos, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. He served in this capacity until May 2015.

In November 2015, he was appointed as a commissioner representing Ikeja Division in the local government service commission.

Mr. Ajomale ran for the Oshodi-Isolo seat in 2014. “I have been a political juggernaut right from my secondary school days when I started becoming more and more interested in the state of affairs of the country and in my immediate community,” he said at the time. “I am the last born of my parents and the only one who picked up politics amongst my siblings.”

He did not get elected in 2015 but Mr. Ajomale won his 2022 primaries by a landslide, receiving all of the 30 votes cast.

Legislative work

Mr. Ajomale is the chairman of the House committee on judiciary, human rights, public petitions and LASIEC.
