Lawal Aina Musibau, a member of the All Progress Congress (APC), represents Apapa 2 in the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly.
He was first elected as a member of the House in 2023.
According to one metric, Mr. Musibau is the worst performing lawmaker in the 10th assembly.
Early Life
Mr. Musibau was born on January 29, 1976. While specific details about his early life remain largely unknown, some information from his publicly available Facebook page suggests that he may have studied at Lagos State Polytechnic and the University of Lagos.
Political career
In 2018, Mr. Musibau announced his intention to represent Apapa Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2019 election.
However, he lost the APC primary to the incumbent, Olumuyiwa Jimoh. Undeterred, Mr. Musibau contested again in 2022, once more facing Jimoh in the primaries.
This time, he successfully secured the APC ticket.In 2023, Mr. Musibau was elected as the member representing Apapa Constituency 2, marking the beginning of his legislative tenure.
Legislative work
Mr. Musibau serves as a member of the House committee on pecial duties and intergovernmental relations.
In 2023, he was appointed as chairman of the House committee on health services and primary health care, a position that has allowed him to lead significant initiatives within the health sector.
As chairman, Mr. Musibau led the committee on a working visit to the Ministry of Health on November 1, 2023. During the visit, he pledged the committee’s support to the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and the Ministry’s top management. He emphasised the importance of collaboration in advancing health policies, programs, and projects to improve the well-being of Lagos residents.
He was also a member of the ad-hoc committee that investigated the alleged disappearance of the intestine of a 13-year-old boy, Adebola Akin-Bright, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja. This investigation highlighted his involvement in addressing critical health issues affecting the state.
In 2024, Musibau was inducted as an ILERA EKO Ambassador and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) champion by the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA).
A performance ranking by Lagos Reporters placed Musibau last among the 40 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, with a rating of 3,880 points.
