Early life and education

Mr. Kazeem Olayinka was born on October 17, 1962. His parents are Alhaji Ismail Kazeem and Alhaja Anifat Adunni Kazeem.

He completed his primary education at Saint Michael Primary School and his secondary education at Lagos Secondary Commercial Academy (Ilupeju College) both located in Lagos.

Mr. Kazeem Olayinka attended the School of Telecommunication P&T in Oshodi from 1981 to 1984.

In 2005, he obtained a bachelors degree in history from the Graduate School of Management, London, England.

Mr. Kazeem Olayinka is the chairman of Muyol Ventures Nig. Ltd. He has also worked as the director of Royal Cuisine in Manchester, England.

Political career

Mr. Olayinka Kazeem embarked on his political journey about 30 years ago as a grassroots politician. He was initially a member of the Action Congress (AC), which later evolved into the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and eventually merged into the APC.

In 2007, he was a senior assistant on school rehabilitation and later became the special assistant to the Senate minority whip in 2012. In 2016, he was appointed by the former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, as the sole administrator of Mushin local government.

While he was sole administrator, he claimed to have rehabilitated primary health care centres and commissioned two roads across Mushin. Mr. Kazeem Olayinka also provided poverty alleviation items for women and youths of the local government. The Mushin local government office complex was renovated with a borehole and furnished with new fittings.

In 2018, he declared his interest to contest the Lagos State House of Assembly seat for Mushin Constituency 2. Part of his manifesto was to secure many slots in all state government projects for Mushin Constituency 2. These slot opportunities would be distributed to all groups through the party.

However, Mr. Kazeem Olayinka did not win the APC’s primary election contest in 2019. Rather, Olayiwola Abdul-Sobur Olawale was the nominated APC candidate and he won the elections.

In 2022, he won the APC’s primary elections to recontest the House seat for Mushin Constituency 2. Mr. Kazeem Olayinka scored 16 votes while the incumbent, Mr. Olawale polled 11 votes.

Legislative work

Earlier this year, Mr Olayinka, moved a motion on the incessant land grabbing across Lagos under ‘Matters of Urgent Public Importance’ and urged the House to organise a meeting with the stakeholders, to address the problem.

In July 2024, Mr. Kazeem Olayinka, along with the chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, visited the site of a building which collapsed on Cameroon Street, off Ewenla Street. They also paid a visit to victims of the incident at the hospitals where they were being treated.

In July 2024, Mr. Kazeem Olayinka along with other political officeholders engaged critical stakeholders in Mushin to forestall violent protests. They stressed the need for constructive dialogue and peaceful ways of expressing concerns, urging all parties to prioritise community unity and safety.

While sharing some of the achievements of his first anniversary as a lawmaker, he claimed to have recommended 24 students for higher learning in Lagos state tertiary institutions and 35 students for secondary education in Lagos secondary schools. Six constituency members received medical aid and rehabilitation in Lagos state healthcare facilities. He offered 22 community members recommendations for full employment in various agencies and parastatals in Lagos State.

Mr. Kazeem Olayinka assisted members of his constituency with the Agricultural Value Chains Enterprise Activation and Farmers’ Support Programme
