The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has dismissed five of its personnel for corruption and reprimanded two others for misconduct.

The dismissals, announced on Monday by LASTMA spokesman Adebayo Taofiq, come after days of investigations on the matters by a disciplinary panel including the Acting General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan, and three Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to Mr Taofiq, the recommendation to dismiss the officers was ratified by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission.

“While Five (5) LASTMA Officials indicted for corruption received {a} letter of Termination of Appointment’, the remaining two (2) received {a} letter of ‘Reprimand’ for absence from duty posts without leave,” he said.

LASTMA’s Acting General Manager stated that the disciplinary actions were conducted according to the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

He further encouraged the public to actively participate in improving LASTMA by sharing their experiences, both positive and negative, and providing evidence of any perceived misconduct.

“We wish to add by informing well-meaning and concerned Lagos residents and the motoring public that we have various windows through which complaints can be channeled for prompt action.”, he said
