The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has registered and presented free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Certificates to 100 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to foster business success and inclusivity for PWDs in the state.
Why it matters: This program is part of LASODA’s broader efforts to break down barriers to economic participation for PWDs in Lagos. By offering business registration and training, LASODA is equipping PWDs with essential skills, allowing them to run successful businesses and contribute to the state’s economy, while challenging stereotypes about disability and entrepreneurship.
Go deeper: Held at the STO Resource Centre in Alausa, the two-day empowerment training included sessions on entrepreneurship, taxation, branding, and record-keeping. General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, highlighted the government’s commitment to creating policies for inclusive economic opportunities. With plans to scale up the program, LASODA also aims to connect beneficiaries to funding opportunities through banks and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund.
Quote: “Our objective is to position PWDs to compete alongside other entrepreneurs by focusing on skill development and ensuring they are equipped to meet the demands of the business world,” said Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal.
