The new Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, has assured residents of a secure and crime-free Christmas and New Year holiday season.
Speaking to reporters after taking over the baton of leadership on Thursday, Fayoade pledged a “watertight” security apparatus that will cover all areas of Lagos, including the air, land, and waterways.
“Residents of Lagos should go about their normal businesses, they should enjoy their Christmas and New Year,” Fayoade declared.
“We are going to provide a watertight security that will protect lives and properties. Our men will be visible at all areas, fun centres, our patrol will be very effective. Christmas and New Year will be crime free,” he assured.
A statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had earlier confirmed that Fayode was taking over from Idowu Owohunwa, who was recently promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police and redeployed to the AIG Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.
Before his appointment, Fayoade had served as CP Armament, Force Headquarters, Abuja and other numerous positions within Lagos and beyond.
His previous roles in Lagos included the DCP Maritime Command, DCP Administration at Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan and DCP State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
