The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced a new initiative to showcase the state’s unique tourism sites by documenting them on Wikimedia.
According to a statement posted on the Lagos State Government’s official Facebook page on Wednesday, this project, in partnership with the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria, aims to bring global attention to Lagos’s rich culture and history.
“The next phase of this project will see the Ministry organising a contest among writers, encouraging participants to create outstanding articles on Lagos’s tourism sites.The Ministry, alongside its partners, will also host a webinar on Thursday, 14th November at 3:00 p.m., targeted at journalists from newspapers and magazines across Nigeria,” the statement partly read.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, on Monday in a statement, urged journalists from across the country to participate in the interactive session aimed to help preserve Lagos’s landmarks for future generations.
