Lagos and France set to partner across various sectors
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed plans to deepen partnership with France across various sectors in the state. Sanwo-Olu revealed this on his Twitter handle after receiving the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier. “Lagos is important to France and there are few things that we are doing together in agriculture, public transportation, water transportation,” the Governor said.
New ferries set to boost water transport services
Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed his plans to launch 10 new ferries, complementing the existing fleet of 15 ferries. The initiative aims to reduce travel time while fostering socio-economic growth and connectivity across the state, Ships and Ports reported.
U-20 Volleyball Club Championship Kicks Off
The Lagos State Sports Commission, in partnership with the Lagos State Volleyball Association, finalized plans to host the 2025 U-20 Volleyball Club Championship at the Teslim Balogun Stadium’s Volleyball Court in Surulere. The championship took place on Wednesday, January 29 and will end on Saturday, February 1.
Farmers’ subsidy launched to boost food security
The state government will launch a N500 million fund, named “onje eko,” a farmer’s subsidy programme, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. This initiative is in a move to support the poultry and fish industry in the state from collapsing due to rising cost of operations.
LASTMA honors Perm Sec Daba as special traffic mayor
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) inducted and decorated the Permanent Secretary, office of the deputy governor, Mrs. Mobolaji Daba as special traffic mayor on Wednesday. Mrs. Daba expressed her sincere gratitude to the transportation management and urged officers to be more dedicated to their work.
Driver dies, passengers injured in auto crash
An unidentified driver of a Toyota Sienna lost his life and left three others severely injured on Wednesday in a lone accident near Conoil, heading towards the Secretariat on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. According to LASTMA, the driver was under the influence of alcohol and lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speeding.
Resident set up road sign to curb police extortion
A viral video on X (formerly twitter) revealed residents setting up roadblock signs at various bus stops and locations, warning motorists against driving on state government-owned BRT lanes in the Abule Egba area. According to a resident in the video, the initiative aims to curb police extortion of drivers, as there are no official government signs marking the restriction.
Pastor Iren to launch auditorium
Founder and Senior Pastor of the Celebration Church International (CCI), Apostle Emmanuel Iren has revealed his ambitious plans to launch one of Lagos’ largest auditoriums in April. He shared this in a video posted on his Twitter account.

She likes to stay at The George Hotel in Ikoyi, get coffee at Flowershop Café and get pampered at Sari Signature. “Nok is one of my favourite restaurants in Lagos.,” she told Fashion Magazine. “It serves amazing African cuisine and I love their Seafood Okra Soup and African-inspired cocktails.”
Hotel manager arrested for alleged abuse of five boys
The state police command has arrested a man for sexually assaulting a 16 year old secondary school student and four others in his hotel. According to PM Newspaper, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, said the suspect will remain in custody until the investigation is concluded.
