More than 2,000 students from Lagos State’s five Government Technical Colleges have graduated as skilled professionals in various fields.
According to a post by the state government on Facebook, the ceremony was coordinated by the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), and held at De-Blue Roof, Agidingbi, Ikeja, on Monday. Graduates were trained in fields such as engineering, construction, ICT, business, and creative arts.
Speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said that his administration is committed to creating more opportunities and partnering with private sector leaders, industries and artisans in driving youth employment and innovation.
He also emphasised the importance of technical and vocational education as it does not only boost individual opportunities, but contribute to development and economic growth. “As you step into the next phase of your lives, remember that your skills are powerful tools—not only for personal success but for societal transformation,” the governor said.
Also, Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Tolani Alli-Balogun, encouraged the graduates to aim high and use their skills to contribute to the nation’s growth.
